Pendle Hill, an 1800 feet giant of the Ribble Valley, home of the legendary witches and, in ski circles at least, the equally legendary Pendle Ski Club. A hill where if you can’t see the valley below then it’s probably raining and if you can see the valley base then it’ll probably be raining soon. On a good day a blustery oasis of sheep, sunshine and ski slope.Write Comment (0 comments) |

Just a brief commentary on the cancellation of the Europeans, it seems a pity that SSE couldn't actually pull this one out of the bag this year, I have no idea what actually went wrong with the event organisation, but it is a crying shame that for whatever reason, that the plug has been pulled.Write Comment (0 comments) |

So, only twenty two days after the nation’s best young ski racers had packed away their reserves of snow wax and wiped the final flakes of frost off the buckles of their boots the Summer ski racing circus headed into Norwich, heart of East Anglia, the most complete medieval city in England and home to a dry slope ski facility that is anything but medieval. Indeed a ski facility that is quite possibly the finest in the UK. Write Comment (0 comments) |

This summer will see Alpine Skiings most exciting new event hit the indoor slopes of the UK. Skier Cross has been a popular mid point between racing and freestyle for professional skiers everywhere for years, but with the sport being declared as an Olympic discipline for the upcoming 2010 Vancouver Games, the mainstream ski markets have grabbed hold of the sport and grabbed hard! Skier Cross involves four athletes battling down a course of sharp turns and banks while negotiating jumps and moguls on the way, all making for an exciting race that is as attractive to spectators as it is competitors! Snowsport England introduced the Snow Mark accreditation programme as a method of examining, maintaining and improving the provision of snowsports in clubs. Building upon current good practice, the accreditation aims to recognise the effort and achievement of those clubs that reach, maintain and improve on the required standard of a club committed to the provision of quality snowsports experiences for young skiers and boarders.Write Comment (0 comments) |
